Not suffering from any disease’: Amit Shah debunks rumours about his health

New Delhi: Home Minister Amit Shah today tweeted to say he is healthy and not suffering from any disease, dismissing recent rumours on social media about his health. “I want to make it clear that I am completely healthy and do not suffer from any disease,” the Home Minister wrote.

He cited his responsibility as Home Minister at this time when the world is dealing with the novel coronavirus pandemic as what has kept him busy. “When this (rumours) was brought to my attention, I thought I would let people enjoy their fantasies which is why I did not respond any earlier.”

Less than an hour after his tweet, Gujarat Police also arrested two people each from Bhavnagar and Ahmedabad for spreading rumours about the Home Minister.

“However, my party workers and lakhs of well-wishers have been expressing concerns for the past two days and I cannot neglect their worries. This is why I want to state clearly today that I am absolutely healthy and not suffering from any illness,” Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement read.

The statement further stated that according to Hindu beliefs, such rumours further strengthen one’s health. “For this reason, I hope that the people indulging in this acts (rumours) leave this nonsense and let me do my work while they do their own,” the Home Minister said.
