Earlier, a video of a mob arguing with the police had gone viral on social media. In the video, a mob can be seen heckling and abusing the police as they were in the Kurla pipeline area for Coronavirus related enforcement duty.
Amish Devgan of News 18 falsely claimed that the people had gathered to do namaz at masjid in the area. And the mob was attacking the police from the Mosque.
Fact: The incident did take place at Kurla. The Mumbai Police has filed an FIR under section 353,188 and 269 of the Indian Penal Code against one person for attacking the police in Kurla.
Maharashtra: Mumbai Police have registered FIR u/s 353,188&269 IPC against one person for allegedly assaulting a police team while the team was on COVID19 related enforcement duty in Kurla Pipeline area on 29th April. Police are yet to arrest the accused.

The FIR copy of the same is attached and there is no mention of the masjid in the First information report. Amish Devgan and his team didn’t even care to read the FIR copy and verify with the police before going live.
A reporter from hashtag news has released a video from the spot of the incident. The incident took place at a residential area and there in no mosque in the locality. So the report from the News18 that the incident took place at a mosque is fake.
News 18 has now deleted the fake news from its twitter account but the video is already going viral in social media.
