With the recent rise in anti-Muslim rhetoric in news content in Indian media, questions are being raised on Muslim clerics or Maulanas as they are called, who are summoned for these news debates.
Many channels invite the same faces on their shows where they can be heard saying inflammatory or embarrassing things, supporting the talks by being biased. These pseudos are often seen being reprimanded by the Anchors.
Many voices on Twitter sent out tweets with #NotOurVoice to show their rejection of these self-appointed spokesmen of Muslim community, their anger on how they are using the plight of Indian Muslims to drive benefit from it.
Most tweets acknowledged how the appearance of such Maulanas on news panels and their unmeasured words on sensitive topics are furthering the hate and putting common Muslims at more risk in an already islamophobic environment.
These paid maulanas cannot be the voice of the Muslim community wherein they are made to say what is required. Muslims are already being jeopardized allover.
