Lucknow : Sahendra Singh Chauhan , a BJP lawmaker from Chhaprauli, Uttar Pradesh posted a video on his FB profile on 15th April, soon after PM Modi’s address to the nation, in which he asked the inhabitants of his constituency to maintain a distance from Jamaatis, which is now being used interchangeably for Muslims.
In a part of his video posted on facebook he can be heard telling his audience how he will request the banks to allot a time slot for Muslims so that there is no intermingling with common people by which he means non Muslims.
He went on to call it imperative to maintain a distance from people of particular biradari i.e., Muslims if they want the well-being of their families, village, state and the country.
Rihaai Manch, has filed a complaint in this regard with the DG UP Police to take cognizance of this provocative video which clearly calls for boycott of Muslims and can lead to law and order situation in a polarised state like UP.
Earlier this month, the World Health Organization had warned against any religious profiling of coronavirus patients by the governments across the world.
“Having COVID-19 is not anybody’s fault. Every case is a victim. It is very important that we do not profile the cases on the basis of racial, religious and ethnic lines,” WHO’s emergency programme director Mike Ryan had said.
