New Delhi: An image has been doing the rounds on social media which shows a young woman who was allegedly gangraped and murdered by four Muslim men in Rajasthan.
A user who had shared the image on 7 May, but removed it later, received over 8,000 retweets.
Several others have similarly shared the image on Twitter and Facebook, claiming it to be that of a rape victim in Rajasthan.
Fact check :
While there have been reports about an alleged gang rape of a minor girl in Rajasthan’s Tonk district, following which three people were arrested and a juvenile was detained on 7 May, the tweets and Facebook posts are inaccurate.
The girl is alive, and the image shared by users on social media platforms is that of a woman who was murdered by her husband, a police personnel, in Haryana’s Hisar on 16 April.
